Matteo Pozzi

LAWYER

Born in Milan on 7 November 1980, Matteo Pozzi graduated from the University of Milan.

He joined Studio Isolabella in 2004 and was immediately involved in several cases of medical malpractice, taking part in the defence of leading hospital groups in trials for fraud to the National Health System. His accrued expertise has led him to focus on criminal liability in the medical field, extended to crimes against the Public Administration in the medical context, and pharmaceutical companies (he recently was part of the defence team for a surgeon involved in the notorious “Santa Rita” trial).

Concurrently, Matteo gained experience in criminal commercial law, acting in several trials for bankruptcy and other corporate crimes, taking part in trials concerning large takeovers accused of financial crimes, as well as trials for usury and money laundering (he was for years the reference lawyer for an electronic money institution, for anti-money laundering issues).

However, Matteo is also dedicated to the more “classic” criminal law, often handling proceedings for corruption, crimes against property and against people, real estate crimes.

In the past years, he has extended his expertise on liability from crime for legal entities pursuant to Law (D.Lgs.) 231/2001, with specific focus both on its applicability to multinational groups for cross-border offences, within more generic Compliance Programmes, and in terms of its closeness and possible integration with anti-corruption programmes in public companies.

In this field, as well as handling the drafting of 231 Models (both for manufacturing companies and financial and banking companies), he has been and is an external member and consultant of the Supervisory Body of a bank belonging to an international group, of selected asset managers, and of a manufacturing company operating in high-end fashion.

In his specialties, Matteo often teaches or is keynote speaker in training courses, seminars, masters and post-graduate specialisation courses, some of which held at the University of Milan, Milan Polytechnic, ABI, Il Sole 24 Ore Business School. Abroad, Matteo recently took part in the 3rd ELLEX Congress.
